WHAT IS BLEED AND TRIM?

Bleed is ink that prints beyond the trim edge of the page to ensure it extends to the edge of the page after trimming. As there is a degree of movement when printing on any press, you should always create 3mm bleed on all edges where bleed is needed.

Bleed ensures you won’t get white lines around the edge of your page when it is trimmed down. Because we guillotine large stacks of paper at a time, allowances need to be made movement within the sheets. Bleed gives us a tolerance around the edge of your page.

After trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document.

Trim size represents the final dimensions of your print job. Artwork and photographs must extend beyond the trim size (see “bleed” below) to avoid narrow slivers of white at the edge of your ad once it is cut to size.

WHY DO I NEED BLEED AND TRIM?

Bleed and Trim consideration is very important when submitting designs for print. Forgetting to include bleed and trim before submitting to a printer can cost both time and money as the print job may result in undesirable defects.

Bleed and Trim consideration ensures that important information or content is not cut off during the finishing process and we do not leave any white lines on your end product.

Supplying your job without bleed may result in white lines when we trim it.

All print documents needs to be provided with 3mm bleed and trim.
We can help you do this for a $10 artwork fee but we can not guarantee your final print will reflect on your artwork.
